‘AIR LAYERING’

Keith Scott will lead an Air Layering demonstration. After Keith’s demonstration, we will each get a chance to try our hand at Air Layering. Please bring a sharp pen knife to participate in the program.

Materials will be supplied by the society.

 

Spot Lite Trees: Anyone bringing a tree to a meeting will receive an extra door prize ticket. If you bring the type of tree being discussed, you will receive two door prize tickets instead of one. You are certainly welcome to bring other items (recently acquired interesting accessories, stands, pots, etc.) to show other members at the meeting

 

Newsletter copies: Anyone who would like to send a complimentary copy of the newsletter to an interested person, give their name and address to Howard Shifrin.

Note:

The Pittsburgh Civic Garden Center has changed its name to the Pittsburgh Garden Place. Future issues of this newsletter will refer to the new name, unless I forget.

 

February Meeting:

Approximately 40 people attended and participated in the Hardwood Cuttings demonstration led by Keith Scott. It was an enjoyable and educational meeting.

 

Member Update:

Michael Matic, Pittsburgh Bonsai Society Treasurer, is at home recuperating from a hospital stay. He would probably appreciate cards and telephone calls from his bonsai friends.

 

Swissvale Classes:

The Society sponsors Free clinic type classes at the Swissvale Senior Citizens Center Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 PM. These classes are arranged by Anna Clark and conducted by Keith Scott. There is no better way to learn the art of bonsai. The center is located on the ground floor of the Swissvale Library at the corner of Monogahela & McClure Avenues. Classes will start again on March 7th.

The Pittsburgh Bonsai Society’s Website, thanks to Tim Ryan and Bob Grealish, has some interesting and educational information available. In addition, it has links to other bonsai related websites. So, if you have internet access available, be sure to check out the website at ../index.html it’s well worth your time.
