ANNUAL SPRING BONSAI SHOW
MAY 13TH & 14TH
PITTSBURGH GARDEN PLACE

Plans for the Spring Show are well underway with a couple of weeks to go. I hope you are all considering which trees you plan to bring to the show. If possible you should bring them on Friday, May 12th between 4:00 and 8:00 PM. Be sure to bring a note for each with your name, the species, variety of tree, and the number of years it has been in training.

Set-up for the show will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday the 12th of May. We can use all the help we can get so PLEASE take the time from your busy schedule to help make our show a great success.

Volunteers are needed to handle the food booth. We also need donations of food such as vegetable platters, brownies, cookies, cans of soda pop, and anything else that is easy to serve. I know we have lots of good cooks and there is always Giant Eagle!

Volunteers are also needed for the membership table, the workshop sign-up table, and the consignment table. Call Mark Wazeneggar to volunteer.

The society’s Spring Show needs donations to the Silent Auction to help defray expenses accrued by the Show. These items should be bonsai related. They will be accepted Friday after 4:00 PM or Saturday before 10:00 AM. Space will be available for members to sell excess plants.

In an effort to generate publicity for the show, we are enclosing three flyers with each newsletter and asking you to have posted in a high traffic area. Storefront windows and other prominent places at your local garden center, supermarket, library, post office, etc., are great places to display our flyers. When you take them, it is best to take some tape and tacks, and once you get permission, go ahead and put the flyer in a conspicuous place. The business owner is often just too busy to get it done. In the past this has been a good way to boost attendance. We are depending on you to do your best to get them out. Contact Mark Wazeneggar at 412-921-0125 if your need more flyers.

Our Past President and Publicity Chairman, Fred Bruckman, will be appearing on the Jane Nugent Garden Show, WPTT-AM, 1360 on your radio dial, on Sunday, May 7th at 8:00 AM. Members should call in to ask questions about bonsai and the Spring Show.

Mark Wazeneggar, President
